Mum denies murder of toddler son

A mother has appeared in court and denied the murder of her toddler son.

Christina Robinson is accused of killing three-year-old Dwelaniyah Robinson.

The 28-year-old, of Bracken Court, Ushaw Moor, County Durham, also faces a charge of cruelty to a person under 16, in relation to the boy.

Robinson appeared at Newcastle Crown Court today, via video link to prison, where she entered a plea of not guilty to both charges.

Judge Paul Sloan KC said a trial will take place on October 3 next year.

There was no application for bail and Robinson was remanded in custody.

The charges arise after emergency services were called to a house in Bracken Court on Saturday November 5.

Dwelaniyah was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Durham but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
