The following cases from the Sunderland area were dealt with recently at magistrates’ court:

Craig Merrigan, 34 of Noble Street, was fined £140 for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour on May 1, 2021.

Alan Laverick, 63, of Birchfield Road, was fined £40 for failure to wear a seat belt on August 29, 2019.

Mark Andrew Ebury, 38, of Ambrose Road, was fined £370 and banned for 16 months for driving with excess alcohol on September 5, 2020 and using a vehicle without insurance on March 1 and September 5, 2020.

Rory Morgan, 19, of Bernard Street, Houghton, was made subject to a two-year community order with a three-month curfew and a two-year restraining order for 11 offences of assault, two of making threats and one of possession of cannabis between February 1 and April 21, 2021.

Lee Fairley, 32, of Redwood Grove, was given an absolute discharge and banned from driving for 28 months for driving with excess alcohol and without a valid licence and using a vehicle without insurance on November 24, 2020, and making off without payment on December 1, 2020.

Lee Bryan, 41, of Felstead Crescent, was fined £576 with six penalty points for failure to identify a driver on June 5, 2020.

Tony Colling, 36, of Stafford Grove, Southwick, was fined £162 with six penalty points for using a vehicle without insurance on April 11, 2020.
