1. Keel Square Ice Rink
Get your skates on and head to Keel Square Ice Rink which is running every day until January 5, except New Year's Day. It will open daily from 10am – 9pm, except for New Year's Eve, when it will be open 10am to 6pm. The cost is children (4 & under): £3; Children (5 – 17): £7.50; Adults (18s and over): £9 ad Family ticket: £25 (2 adults & children or 1 adult & 3 children). 2. Cinderella, Sunderland Empire, until January 5
Cinderella is running at Sunderland Empire until January 5. Scarlett Moffatt heads up the cast as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella which also stars comedian Miss Rory as Rorina Hardup, Duncan Burt as her ugly sister Ruby, Nick Jnr’s Gemma Naylor (Go! Go! Go!) as Cinderella, ITV’s Superstars finalist Jon Moses as the Prince and Tom Whalley as Buttons for a photo call. Usually theatres spend months in negotiations with household names like Scarlett to appear in their pantos, but the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here winner is such a regular to the High Street West theatre that she approached them for her debut panto performance. 3. Live music at Hadrian's Tipi
There's free live music running daily at Hadrian's Tipi which is in the city until New Year's Day. This weekend you can sip on mulled wine by the fire pit and enjoy live music from the likes of Mark John, Josh Hodgson, Jon Page and Jess Hynes. Photo: Stu Norton
4. New Year’s Eve Monster Ceilidh Bash, Arts Centre Washington
A New Year’s Eve Monster Ceilidh Bash will take place at Arts Centre Washington on December 31 from 7.30pm – 1am. Celebrate New Year’s Eve in style at Arts Centre Washington and enjoy a night of dancing and great food and drink. Get on your feet and join in the fun at the Ceilidh. Don’t worry if you don’t know the dances as a Caller will lead you through all of them. Providing the music for our New Year’s Eve Ceilidh will be the high energy, fun loving Monster Ceilidh Band. There is also a buffet included in the price of the ticket. Tickets, priced £26.50, are limited for this event and must be pre-booked.
