Sunderland suffered their third defeat in four home matches on Monday as they hosted West Brom in the Championship. The Black Cats could have moved within a point of the play-off places.

The Black Cats took the lead through Amad Diallo’s penalty and largely dominated the game throughout the first half, however the Baggies turned up the heat in the second 45 minutes and goals from substitutes Tom Rogic and Daryl Dike eventually earned them all three points.

Tony Mowbray’s side now sit eleventh in the Championship - four points from the top six. Next up is a trip to relegation candidates, Hull City, who have failed to beat Sunderland in the league since 2014.

Cardiff City boss Mark Hudson has revealed he is yet to discuss a new contract with Steve Morrison, who is currently recovering from an ACL rupture and playing with the under-21s. The 31-year-old's contract with the club expired in the summer while he was still injured. (Wales Online)

Birmingham City's Hannibal has confirmed that he won't return to Manchester United next month and will see out the campaign at St. Andrew's, as he outlined his intentions with the Blues. FORMER SUNDERLAND MANAGERIAL TARGET SACKED

Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous looks set to leave the club after refusing to sign a new contract and has been linked with the likes of Celtic, Rangers, Millwall and Stoke City. However, it has been reported that Hibs would prefer him to join a club 'down south' and so the 23-year-old could make a move to the Championship. (Football League World)

WATFORD BOSS 'REVEALS' WHERE HE WANTS TO STRENGTHEN

Watford boss Slavan Bilic has said it is 'obvious' where he will look to strengthen in the January transfer window. He said: “Midfield and wings. It is obvious.In midfield we are extremely short, so short that we had to put Joao Pedro there. Don’t get me wrong, he can do the job there and in many other positions.
