Tesco staff in South Tyneside dig in for charity cause

The Tesco employees lent a helping hand to Grace House by providing a donation of £500 to help renovate the facility centre and garden area. Colleagues from the store on Towers Place went along to the facility to present the team with the donation. Colleagues also spent the day helping out with general maintenance work in the garden and got stuck in with weeding, mowing the grass and preparing the ground for planting. The Grace House Children’s Charity supports youngsters with complex disabilities and life limiting conditions across the North East. Its support services include providing short breaks for the children, support groups for the family and alternative therapies for carers. Helen Harber, store manager, said: “Grace House makes a positive difference to both children and their families in the community and so we were delighted to be able to show our support to them. “Our team had a wonderful time helping out in the garden carrying out tasks such as weeding, grass cutting and general tidying up. “We can’t wait to see the garden area and light therapy stations when everything is finished.” Jane Lertas-Robinson, business development manager for Grace House, said: “We would like to thank the team at Tesco for their kind donation and support with much needed work in the garden. “We aim to provide the children we support with a fun, safe and exciting environment and the £500 will help us to continue to do this and keep upgrading our services.” “This will not only benefit children and young people who have complex disabilities, health needs and life limiting conditions, but their whole family.”
