Sunderland hair salon Cloud 9 appears on Good Morning Britain
and live on Freeview channel 276
Debra Anne Adamson, owner and manager of Cloud 9 on Hylton Road, featured on national TV on Friday, July 3, to share the news that she will be picking up the scissors once again at midnight on July 4.
The special appointment will mark the date when hair salons and hospitality businesses will be able to start trading for the first time since the start of the coronavirus lockdown.

Hide AdLoyal client Karen College-Scott, 56, will be the first to get her colour, cut and blow dry done at the salon when the clock chimes midnight.
The moment will be broadcast on Facebook live on the Cloud 9 page so that clients will be able to watch the business milestone.
And Debra appeared on Good Morning Britain (GMB) where she spoke to presenter Ben Shephard about the midnight haircut in anticipation of salons reopening.
“I thoroughly enjoyed it,” Debra told the Echo.
“It is something I have never experienced before in my life.

Hide Ad“GMB got in touch on Wednesday night to see if I would go on and I asked my client Karen and colleague Caitlin to they were up for it too.
“They called me on Thursday morning to prepare and then we did the interview live on Skype from my phone in the salon.
“Since then my phone has never stopped!
“People have been trying to ring for an appointment but it will be August before I can take on any more.
“After the midnight appointment I will go home and then be back in the salon for my next appointment at 7.30am.

Hide Ad“I am going to be working from Sunday to Sunday, with no days off for the next three weeks.
“I have got to do it, its my business and clients need their hair doing.”
She added: “I just wanted to promote Sunderland as we are a lovely city and there are some lovely people.”
Staff are fully equipped with PPE to carry out appointments safely and will be wearing face shields, masks, and aprons.

Hide AdClients will also have to wear a mask, disposable gown and disposable towels.
But despite the changes the Cloud 9 team are looking forward to getting back to work after weeks of uncertainty.
“I am excited to get my fingers through someone’s hair and to style, curl and blow wave, as I have missed it, ” Debra said.
“I think it will be emotional as it’s my passion.”
It will also be an exciting time for Debra’s midnight client Karen College-Scott, who said she ‘can’t wait’ for her hair to be done after months of waiting.

Hide AdThe Wearside florist who owns business Nanna Nell’s Floral Arrangements, has been working up to 14 hours a day to manage demand, meaning that her midnight haircut was actually one of the few times she could do.
“I am really looking forward to it,” Karen said.
