Now detectives investigating the attack are calling for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and speak to police.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Anyone who has any information that could help the investigation should call Durham Constabulary on 101, and ask to speak to PC 2807 Cloke in Peterlee CID.
“Alternatively, information can be passed on to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
