Neighbours speak of shock as man covered in blood is arrested on suspicion of GBH after knocking on window

The man, who was wearing blood-stained clothes, is alleged to have knocked on a window at an address on Beverly Court, in Concord, asking for help and money at 7.45am on Monday, October 12.

Hide AdA police cordon remains in place around a house in Beverly Court, with crime scene investigators at the scene.
Residents on the Concord street were left surprised by the unusual incident.
One man who did not wish to be named, said: “I went out with this morning between 9am and 10am to see a police car, an officer standing there and the cordon in place.”
Natasha Remmer said that it was a nice area and that she didn’t expect anything like this to happen.

Hide AdThe 22-year-old mum said: “I was a bit shocked to see the police cordon. You don’t really expect anything like this to happen, it’s quite a nice area.”
A local dad also spoke of his surprise when he left the house to do the morning school run, saying: “I heard there had been something going on but I’m not sure what. It was a bit of a surprise to see it when I got up this morning to take the kids of school.”
Neighbour Derek McGovern said that the police cordon doesn’t phase him, although it was a surprise to see it.
He added: “I’m not too bothered by it, I didn’t even realise that it was there at first but it was a surprise to see it with it being such a quiet area.”

Hide AdAt this time, no one is believed to have reported to police with any injuries.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 7.45am today we received a report of concern for a male who had approached an address on Beverley Court, Concord, and was knocking on the window.
