Armed police attend incident on Roker Avenue as road is cordoned off
Armed police attended an incident on Roker Avenue in Sunderland after witnesses claim a man was seen on a roof.
Witnesses say the road is currently sealed off in the ongoing incident and a North East Ambulance spokesperson has confirmed one patient has been taken to hospital with a hand injury.

Hide AdOne 64-year-old man who lives nearby said he found out about the disturbance in a call from a family member at around 6.45pm.
When he looked out into the street, he could see a man on the roof of a house in Roker Avenue, close to the junction of Brandling Street.
He said: "There's an armed response from the police, I could see them outside near to the chemist.
"I can see one police car and an ambulance, but I know there's a lot more police vehicles down there.

Hide Ad"I saw them get out of their cars, put their balaclavas on and all their guns.
"They've got that part of Roker Avenue all sealed off."
Northumbria police have been contacted for further information.
A North East Ambulance spokesperson said: “We were called to an incident on Roker Avenue in Sunderland at 6.32pm.
"We treated one patient with a hand injury before taking them to Sunderland Royal Hospital.”
