Win No2 Church Lane burgers delivered to your door in lockdown 2
No2 Church Lane proved successful in the first lockdown with deliveries of their meat-based, as well as vegan, burger options and it means now we’re in the midst of lockdown 2, it’s a well-honed delivery service able to still provide Sunderland with its burger fix.

Hide AdHe’s building on the restaurant’s established reputation with a really imaginative menu with burgers topped with all manner of treats, such as the Pizza Burger. Not for the feint-hearted, or the waistline watchers, these 2 3oz beef patties are covered in a pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni. Or, from the vegan options, there’s the Jack Crackle & No Pork, which comes as pulled jack fruit and croutons, served with apple sauce. As the names would suggest, this is food with personality.
We ordered on a Saturday night just before the second lockdown with the driver arriving bang on the delivery time. I went with an oldie, but a goodie: the Churchy OG.
Their most popular burger, it’s a simpler dish than the more colourful options, but it still packs a big flavour punch.
It consisted of two perfectly-tender beef patties with just the right amount of juice, topped with streaky bacon, melted cheddar cheese (none of your rubbery cheese here) and confit onion, served with house sauce. Despite having been in transit, it looked just as good as I’ve had in the restaurant.

Hide AdAll burgers come with a side of slaw and fries, which I swapped for sweet potato fries. If you’re feeling particularly sinful, you can also upgrade your fries to loaded fries, from Chinese chicken curry fries and Mackem classic cheesy chips to pizza fries and steak fries.
There’s also a range of gloriously calorific sides (diet food this is not), such as loaded nachos, chicken wings and onion rings.
We had the halloumi fries and fried chicken strips between us, which were great, but hardly needed with the size of the burgers. The fries too were a huge portion, which we couldn’t fit on the plate in the first sitting.
My bubble (who thought we’d ever be calling people that) had the Everything’s Beta with Feta from the vegan options – a spinach and falafel patty, topped with a rich red pepper hummus and crumbled tangy feta, which proved to be a perfect medley of flavours.
Prices for burgers start from £10.50 through to £16.95 for a super-size burger consisting of not one, but four patties. Fries and upgrades start from £3, sauces are £1.50 and kids meals are £5.95. You can also buy an extra bun if you want to make a chip butty.
The menu is available for collection or delivery, Monday-Friday 5pm to late and Saturday and Sunday 11am to late. You will need to pre-order by inbox on the No2 Church Lane Facebook page before 3pm or call 0191 567 8412 after 4pm seven days a week.
