ACTRESS Sherrie Hewson is hoping Wearsiders will grant her Christmas wish to track down her family members.

The Loose Women panellist, who is appearing as the Fairy Godmother in pantomime at the Sunderland Empire later in the year, is looking for long-lost members of her family who come from Washington.

Sherrie, best known for her portrayal of Maureen Holdsworth in Coronation Street, said: “I would love to be in touch with my father’s family.

“His name was Ron Hutchinson and he was from Washington.”

Houghton Heritage Society is helping Sherrie with her search.

Society member Jeff Thornton said: “Ronald Hutchinson was born on October 21, 1918, in Sunderland.

“His parents were John Hutchinson and Catherine Pearn, who had married in 1910.

“Ronald’s older siblings were Willie, born 1911, and Mary, born 1912. Willie married a Florence Moore in 1938 and had a son called Kenneth. This would be Sherrie’s cousin.”

Houghton Heritage Society chairman Paul Lanagan said: “I have always been a big fan of Sherrie’s work. It would be great if we could help her with her quest.”
