FUNNYGIRL Sarah Millican has announced a special homecoming show to start her autumn tour.

Millican will perform her show, Thoroughly Modern Millican, at The Customs House, South Shields, on Saturday, October 8 following her Edinburgh Festival performances.

She is the second South Shields-born comedian to play at the venue following Chris Ramsey’s announcement of an Edinburgh Festival warm up show in July.

Millican has previously appeared on stage at the theatre as part of the Joke For A Boat show in September 2009.

Since then she has appeared in panel shows like 8 Out of Ten Cats, Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You, before joining the panel on ITV’s Loose Women in January of this year.

Last year she went down a storm at the Sunderland Empire as part of Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.

Customs House Executive Director Ray Spencer MBE said: “I am absolutely delighted that Sarah is to start her tour with us.

“She is quite rightly one of the most popular comedians working at the moment, and is playing some very big venues so for her to start with us is a great endorsement for our theatre.

“It promises to be a fantastic night.”

The venue is expecting a high demand for tickets for this one night only show, so have advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am tomorrow.

* Tickets cost £21, and are available by calling the box office on 454 1234, or by visiting www.customshouse.co.uk
