A COMEDIAN who honed his jokes on South Tyneside is preparing for a triumphant homecoming show.
Chris Ramsey, who has performed at the South Shields venue as part of the Grinning Idiot Comedy Club, will return to perform a double solo show.
He will perform his 2010 sell-out Edinburgh show Aggrophobic as well as his new show for the famous festival on Monday, July 4, in The Studio theatre.
Ramsey, who was recently seen on Jason Manford’s Comedy Rocks show on ITV and has supported Al Murray’s The Pub Landlord, has been described as “very funny” by Frank Skinner and “frighteningly talented” by GQ Magazine.
He said: “I am really chuffed to be performing at The Customs House. It was a great atmosphere when I was there with Grinning Idiot so I can’t wait to headline now.
“It’s a lovely feeling knowing you are going to perform your own show in your home town.”
Customs House executive director Ray Spencer said: “I am delighted that Chris has agreed to perform at The Customs House.
“He has very rapidly gained a great reputation for his stand up and the intimacy of The Studio should make for a very special evening in the company of a comedian with a very bright future ahead of him, I advise you all to catch him now.”
