FLAMBOYANT and fabulous, The Lady Boys of Bangkok are bringing a carnival atmosphere to the region with a bang.
The Lady Boys of Bangkok are back in the Toon with their stellar new show, Carnival Queens, which packs more glitz, more glamour and more giggles into 105 minutes than you can shake a stick at.
Returning to Newcastle for their eighth year, the Lady Boys have firmly established themselves in the North East and will enjoy a month-long residency in Times Square.
Artistic director Phillip Gandey said that although the show started out at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Lady Boys love performing in the North East, which is why they perform more dates in Newcastle than any other British city.
This year’s show features a talented troupe of carnival queens (and kings) sporting more than 300 elaborate hand-made costumes during the fun-filled show.
Accompanied by a soundtrack of pounding drums and carnival rhythms, the Lady Boys will take you on a unique carnival parade as they do their own spectacular cabaret performances of hits by Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, Shirley Bassey and Queen.
Phillip said: “Carnival Queens is infused with the comedy, surprises and satire that only the Lady Boys can deliver.
“It resounds to the timeless Latin beats of fiesta and pulsates to the chart-topping sounds of today.
“Although The Lady Boys show started out at the Edinburgh Fringe, out of all the places in England we get the warmest welcome in the North East.”
Tickets for the show are £24 or £14.50 for adults, with up to three shows a day.
