Have your say

YOU are cordially invited to a night ball full of lavish costumes, eclectic dance styles and moving music.

For one night only, balletLORENT is taking over North Shore tomorrow – and it wants you to be part of the event.

The Night Ball is a celebration of the beauty of social dancing and is influenced by various movement styles, from quickstep to breakdancing.

Dressed in costumes designed by Game of Thrones costume designer Michele Clapton, dancers will sweep throughout the venue in front of cabaret seating.

After a 70-minute performance, the floor will be opened up and the audience will be given the rare opportunity to be partnered by one of balletLORENT’s professional dancers.

Liv Lorent, the company’s artistic director, said: “So many of us don’t dance in front of other people because of self-consciousness, or a desire to be a different kind of dancer than we are. The Night Ball is an occasion to experience dance as one of our basic instincts.

“We are presenting dance as beautiful, charming, necessary, sometimes a little unhinged; but ultimately an extraordinary human achievement.”

The company will also be working with a group of cameo performers, who will work with and perform alongside balletLORENT’s professional dancers.

Those involved will take part in a workshop led by balletLORENT’s professional dancers where they will learn steps from the choreography of the show.

BalletLORENT is supported by Arts Council of England in order to deliver a programme of work for audiences of all ages in diverse settings.
