Emilie, from Boldon Colliery, is spending the Christmas season at Birmingham’s Repertory Theatre, taking to the stage ever night as Lucy Pevensie.

She said: “It’s going great, but there are a lot of shows, so I’m knackered. It’s a lot of fun though and it is quite Christmassy, Santa is in the show and the kids always go wild when he comes out on stage.”

Emilie, who recently spent a year on London’s West End starring as Cosette in Les Misérables, added: “The story is incredible. It’s an amazing story, so it’s a great thing to do because people really love it.

“It’s all about a revolution and finding freedom, so I’ve just gone from one revolution in Les Mis to another one, it seems to be my thing at the minute.”

The show, which runs until January 16, is based on the fantasy novel by CS Lewis and is set in Narnia, a land of talking animals and mythical creatures.

Lucy and her siblings, Peter, Susan and Edmund, after evacuated to the country during the Second World War and find a wardrobe that leads to the magical land of Narnia, which has been ruled over by the evil White Witch for 100 years.

The children are embroiled in a battle and must fight to save Narnia and their lives.

Emilie said: “The kids absolutely love the show, you feel like you’re in One Direction or something when you’re taking a bow at the end and they’re all screaming.

“It looks amazing as well. Aslan the lion is a huge puppet, there’s snow, Santa, it’s just amazing.

“After this I’d love to do some drama or maybe some Shakespeare.

“I’d love to do some more TV work as well.”

Emilie is also due to appear in an episode of Holby City on BBC One on January 19. She plays a Geordie girl rushed to hospital after an allergic reaction.
