Thaw blimey, what a show!
If you’re going to do an arena spectacular based on the Oscar-wining Frozen, what better surface to perform it on than ice?
And in this Disney showstopper, the arena ice rink only added more magic to this annual animation love-in.
Frozen has become an instant Disney classic. Okay, the Let It Go karaoke killer may irritate the parents, but the kids love it. Though when I say kids, I do, of course, mean girls.
The boys are not so enamoured by the Frozen princesses, but thankfully for them, there’s more on show than Elsa and Anna.
Mickey Mouse and Minnie manage to make an appearance, but in reality, this is all about fairytale magic for the little princesses.
For those unfamiliar with the story (you probablywon’t be going), but here it is anyway.
It’s about a princess with an extraordinary heart going on an epic journey to find her magical sister across a winter wonderland. There’s a snowman, reindeer and rugged mountain man thrown into the mix. Oh, and syrupy ladles of romance! What more do you need to know?
As ever, the real stars of these Disney on Ice shows are the costumes.
The youngsters’ eyes were popping at the array of glittering princess dresses given extra glamour and magical effect by the grace of the skating troupe.
Special mention too must go to the special effects team with. the pyrotechnics and the snowfall adding to the show. They were fantastic effects.
The dancers too were immaculate. Their performance was perfect, with no falls or slip ups to be witnessed.
And everyone joined in for the set-piece singalongs ... even the dads!
To keep the boys entertained, characters from Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story, Finding Nemo and even The Lion King muscled in on the action.
But it was the Frozen stars who stole the show with everything leading up to the showstopping and, naturally, heartwarming finale.
* The show runs all week, with the final performances finishing on Sunday.
