WE’D heard on the grapevine that Bar Justice in Sunniside was serving up some tasty cocktails.

As connoisseurs of this particular tipple, we thought it was time we tried them out and gave our verdict.

The girls are never ones to miss out on well-made mojitos and other exotic creations, so Katy and I were joined by our friends Georga and Jodie at this gem of a bar.

When we walked in I was pleasantly surprised to see a live acoustic double act entertaining a small crowd of punters.

Thursday night is buskers’ night and we were treated to renditions of Love Machine by Girls Aloud, Cecilia by Suggs, Jonny Cash’s Ring Of Fire and a current favourite of ours Gotye, Somebody That I Used to Know.

They had everyone up dancing and a few of our fellow pub-goers even helped out with the vocals, while we sat in one of the snug booths and watched the show.

Despite several years of use, Bar Justice has managed to keep its interior looking as good as when it opened and I had forgotten what a lovely bar it is.

Katy and I played it safe for our first round of drinks and opted for the recommended sparkling cocktail, which was a Harry’s Bellini.

Garnished with a fresh strawberry and made with strawberry puree, I could have drank these all night.

Several rounds in and I was on the Golden Mojitos, just like the original, but with an extra kick.

This is a refreshing cocktail guaranteed to get you in the party mood.

By then the live music had been drowned out in favour of the latest gossip – we also took time out to admire Jodie’s bright pink Mulberry boots, which were on their first outing.

What better place to break in designer heels than on a night out in Sunderland!

It made a real change being entertained by live singers and I think we will definitely be back again, I mean what more could a girl want than perfectly-concocted cocktails and tunes on tap?

We may even venture out on a Monday when Bar Justice launch its new comedy club.
