ARE you an urban and dance act in need of a stepping stone to success?
Then take advantage of a new initiative set up by The Bunker in Stockton Road, Sunderland.
It has teamed up with Independent bar and Generator music project to launch Shake It Up 2012 – a hunt for the area’s best new urban and dance acts.
Producers, DJs, MCs and vocalists are encouraged to apply.
On Saturday, July 14, the showcase will be launched at Independent, in Holmeside, and anyone interested in applying is invited to go along.
They will be treated to some top live performances from high-profile DJs, producers and vocalists from across the North East.
Potential entrants will be introduced to Shake It Up 2012’s panel, made up of those at the top of their game in the region, as well as having the opportunity to take part in a Q&A session with leading figures in their field.
All information on how to enter will also be available on the night.
Local DJ and producer KT Mosebi, who has recently worked in the Bunker studios alongside BunkerDance producers to record his material, said : “I’m really excited to get down to the launch night and see what Shake It Up 2012 is all about.
“From what I have heard so far it sounds like a brilliant opportunity for acts like myself to showcase our talents and get some feedback from people in the scene who we really respect.
“I will definitely be entering. This is a great chance to get my music heard.”
Shake It Up 2012 aims to find the best emerging talent from entrants who apply via an exclusive Soundcloud page, which will go live online in the weeks following the launch.
A number of artists who are selected by the panel will all feature on a compilation CD and perform together at the main live event later in the year.
The select panel of local experts will then select one artist who will have the opportunity to release a single via Bunkeruk records ,along with a publishing and full PR package.
Shake It Up 2012 organiser Tom Greenwood said: “Our aim with Shake It Up 2012 is to discover the next bright talent in this thriving scene and then give them the platform to really make a name for themselves in the North East and beyond.
“Not only this, but we believe the event is a great way to get everyone together who share a common interest, a love for urban and dance music.”
