THE Futureheads will support rock giants Bon Jovi at their home stadium.
The four-piece guitar band from Sunderland will get the crowds going ahead of the US rockers when they take to the stage at the Stadium of Light on June 13.
The Mackem musicians are no strangers to the club, having previously graced the pitch in May 2005 and again last summer when they supported Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Their top 20 single Beginning of the Twist is blasted out before every home game as Sunderland’s players walk out onto the pitch.
The Futureheads guitarist and staunch Sunderland fan, Ross Millard, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be supporting Bon Jovi at the Stadium of Light.
“The stadium is now firmly established as a major music venue and to playing there again, in front of a passionate North East audience, is a huge honour for us as a band.”
SAFC commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “It’s great that The Futureheads will once again be performing at the Stadium of Light. They are one of the region’s most popular bands and were fantastic when they performed here last year.
“The band are great friends of the football club and have a real connection with us, which I’m sure will make their performance here at the Stadium of Light all the more special for everyone.”
