Sunderland duo Hyde & Beast will be headlining one of the region’s top festivals.

The pair, who’ve earned national praise for their unique brand of psychedelia and glam-based rock, will take to the stage at Evolution Emerging on Saturday.

One of the largest celebrations of emerging musical talent, this year’s festival will see 40 artists perform across a host of venues in Newcastle.

Fresh from completing the recording of their forthcoming EP at their home studio in Roker, Hyde & Beast will grace the Cluny 2 stage as part of the festival.

The band will be joined on the bill by fellow Sunderland acts including Orange County, Sons of Bido Lito and Nano Kino.

Drummer Neil Bassett said: “We love playing The Cluny 2 and have packed the place out a few times now.

“There’s a huge wealth of music talent in the North East and this is a great way to get everyone together to celebrate it.

“It’s an important event in the music calendar and we are chuffed to have been invited to headline it twice.

“The Sunderland music scene is as healthy as always and still punching above its weight.

“This year sees the SLUG album, Frankie & The Heartstrings third album, we have our new EP out this summer, Barry Hyde’s yet to be released solo album is a masterpiece and is not at all what people might expect.”
