SOME Velvet Morning are gearing up to take to the stage in Sunderland.
The three piece will perform at Independent, on Holmeside, on March 24, ahead of the release of their new single, How to Start a Revolution, on April 16.
Though a new release, the song may already be familiar to some after featuring in Matthew Vaughn’s 2010 blockbuster film Kick Ass.
The rock/pop song is taken from their new album Allies, which is released on April 30, and will be available as a digital download.
The band – made up of brothers, Des Lambert (vocals/guitar), Gavin Lambert (bass) and Rob Flanagan (drums) – take their name from the Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra classic song, Some Velvet Morning.
In fact Sinatra gave them her nod of approval and was flattered when the band asked permission to use the name.
The band are releasing their record through MyMajorCompany, which is a crowd-funded label where fans invest in bands for a say in their future direction.
They managed to raise an amazing £100,000 in just two months to fund recording and touring.
