Pop star Peter André turned up the heat for fans last night as he performed a string of hits old and new in Newcastle.

The Mysterious Girl singer took centre stage at Newcastle City Hall as part of his Peter Andre UK Tour, much to the delight of the more mature fans in the audience.

Opening with Prince's 1999, backed by a seven-piece swing band and two soul singers, he worked the crowd to a frenzy as he sang and shimmied his way around the stage.

The down-to-earth singer took the mick out of himself and the old dance routines he had to do early in his career.

His tongue- in-cheek manner was refreshing to see and dedicated fans revelled in mimicking the routines too.

A new song, Turn It Up, wasn't as well received as some of the covers he performed, but songs such as Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River, a medley of Bobby Brown hits and several Frank Sinatra classics such as Come Fly With Me, Fly Me To The Moon and Ain't That A Kick helped raised the roof.

But it was a cover of Justin Bieber's chart-topper Sorry and André's biggest hit Mysterious Girl that fans were thrilled to hear as the show came to an end.

Superfan Suzanne Foster, 36, from Washington, who got her armed signed by the singer during his visit to Durham's Perfume Shop in August and went to get the signature tattooed before returning to show him what she'd done, was delighted to discover she had made it into star's official tour programme.

She said: "I can't believe I am in the programme. Peter asked fans on social media to send in selfies with him, and I never thought in a million years mine would get picked. It's made my night.

"The show was amazing. He sang Sorry brilliantly, and I love hearing him sing Mysterious Girl.

"Peter said I hope you won't regret getting that tattooed, and I said 'how could I regret having you on my arm, Peter?'. "
