The list of collaborators on Calvin Harris’ third album reads like a who’s who of contemporary chart-toppers.
Dizzee Rascal, Rihanna and Florence Welch, to name a few all seemingly formed an orderly queue to work with the Scottish DJ/songwriter/producer/guru.
One listen to 18 Months and you can see why. Harris’ slick, polished approach, from club bangers like Rihanna’s We Found Love and Florence’s Sweet Nothing, to the laid back funk of School, is guaranteed to sell by the bucketload and be played everywhere.
So, if dance music with a whiff of sophistication about it is your thing, then so is 18 Months.
If it isn’t, it’s probably best if you avoid bars, clubs and music radio for the foreseeable future. A year-and-a-half should do it.
