A Washington band is gearing up to release a trio of singles after catching the attention of a London record label.
After two years together, Public Secret are hoping to take the band to the next level with a series of gigs across the country.
Influenced by the likes of Foo Fighters and Nickelback, the band is made up of Andy Tatters on vocals, Matt Young on bass, Chris Steel on lead guitar and Joe Bullimore on drums.
“We’d hired a publicist who put together a press kit for us and we got a couple of things back from that,” explained Joe, 23.
“One of those was from The Animal Farm , an independent label in London.
“ We drove down to London in a day and back just to have a meeting with them and ended up going back in February to record with them.”
The result of the recording sessions are Life on the Line, which will be released in September, Highway Girl released in December and Devil in the Making which will be on sale from iTunes in March.
As well as gig dates across the country, the band will be launching the first single with a gig at The Stella Maris in Albany, Washington, on September 6.
However, you don’t have to wait until then to hear their sound, the band will also be playing Pure in Sunderland city centre on July 13.
Speaking about the band’s sound, Joe said: “We’ve very much American-sounding hard rock.
“We think we’re quite stand out because there’s not a lot of bands that sound like us. Certainly in this area, there’s a lot of indie bands, which is great, but we think we’re something different.”
* Tickets for the single launch of Life on the Line are £2 in advance or £3 on the door from the band’s website – www.publicsecretuk.com – or their Facebook page www.facebook.com/publicsecret. Ten per cent of profits from the night will go to the British Lung Foundation.
