SUNDERLAND artist Paul Liddell will be launching his new single on home turf tomorrow.
Paul, who has shared the stage with acts including Turin Brakes, Florence and The Machine and Calvin Harris, will perform at The Watch House, in Roker, at 7.30pm to mark the release of Giant Steps.
Support comes from David Ward Maclean from York and Abi Moore, who is travelling up from Suffolk to play.
The whole show will be recorded and filmed by Harrogate-based record label ‘Ont’ Sofa’ for a video and live EP release later in 2014.
Giant Steps was inspired by Stephen Donaldson’s fantasy realm The Land.
The track conjures images of gigantic mountainous landscapes and impossible heights, and features Katie Hall on cello and Rachael Bailey on violin, as well as some Nordic-style chanting and Paul’s percussive guitar playing and vocal.
The single is officially released on Monday, but limited edition numbered CDs will be available at the gig.
The single is available to pre-order online now at www.paulliddell.bandcamp.com.
The video for the new single is also available on youtube at www.youtube.com/paulliddellable .
Tickets for the launch are £6, available online at www.wegottickets.com/paulliddell or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The gig is very nearly sold out. Doors are at 7.30pm.
