FOLK for all – that’s the ethos behind a new monthly music night.
From Monday, Ashbrooke Sports Club will be hosting a regular folk night featuring a range of acts.
Rob Deverson, trustee at the club, said: “The idea has come from members of the club who are always looking at ways to further the diversification of the entertainment at Ashbrooke.
“We had a folk singer, Keith Gregson, perform at our sausage and cider festival, which was really popular, so we decided to establish a dedicated monthly event which will take place on the first Monday of every month.”
The first line-up will include Terry Gorman who has played alongside The Stranglers, Lindisfarne and The Levellers. There will also be performances by Deadman’s Shoes plus Dan Foster.
Entry is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Rob said: “The event will be held in the main bar and is open for everyone. Gradually people are starting to realise that we are not a members-only club any more, which is helping to attract a new audience.”
The club is also looking for future acts to potentially play at the new event which will take place again on May 6.
Monday’s event will start at 3pm, and a happy hour will run from 3pm-5pm.
