One of the UK’s newest boybands are putting on their dancing shoes ahead of a North East gig this weekend.

The Vamps, who have already amassed a global following on social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, will be performing live at Bents Park, South Shields on Sunday as part of Sound Waves 2013.

The group, made up of teenagers Bradley Will Simpson, James McVey, Tristan Evans and Connor Ball, will be performing many of the covers that have already earned them an army of fans, as well as their debut single Can We Dance, which is due for release in September.

Bradley said: “The amount of support we’ve received so far has been phenomenal. We’ve done a couple of gigs in the North East already and the crowd has been great. All my family are from just up the coast in Whitley Bay so I’m particularly looking forward to Sound Waves 2013 and all the band are thrilled to be part of such an amazing line-up.”

Sound Waves 2013, which is being organised by South Tyneside Council, will see The Vamps once again sharing the stage with chart-toppers McFly, who they recently supported on their UK tour.

The special open-air gig, which will run from 4pm on Bank Holiday Sunday, will also feature appearances by X Factor winner Joe McElderry and Britain’s Got Talent finalists, Luminites. It is being co-headlined by McFly and Little Mix, who are returning to the UK after storming the US billboard charts with their debut album
DNA.

Coun Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council, who recently got a chance to meet up with The Vamps ahead of their visit to South Shields, said: “The Vamps are all fantastic musicians and from the reaction they’ve received already there’s a good chance they’re going to be the next big thing in British music.

“It was a great pleasure to meet with Bradley, James, Tristan and Connor and I’m sure they’ll get a warm welcome in South Shields this
Sunday.”
