THE Kaiser Chiefs fourth studio album is in the shops on June 26 but can be downloaded via an innovative new service.
‘The Future is Medieval’ is available to download now on http://www.kaiserchiefs.com through Fiction / B-Unique Records.
Twenty tracks were released in all and the Leeds band’s aim is to “create a music experience that can be shared and enjoyed by all and at the same time revitalise and subvert the industry standard”.
Now, that might come across as funky if a little meaningless management speak but it does fans the chance to choose their own track list.
Here’s how it works:
1. Visit http://www.kaiserchiefs.com and listen to snippets of 20 brand new tracks
2. Select your favourite 10 songs in any order
3. Create your own bespoke album artwork
4. Download your personal Kaiser Chiefs album
You are then provided with your own unique webpage and tools to promote your album with the opportunity to earn £1 from every album purchased following a recommendation to a friend.
Kaiser Chiefs are now on tour, visiting London’s Electric Ballroom on Thursday, London Hard Rock Calling on June 24, Glastonbury on June 26, V Festival (Aug 20-21) and Leeds Kirkstall Abbey in September (tickets from www.gigsandtours.com, www.ticketmaster.co.uk and www.ticketline.co.uk).
