THE world’s biggest ZZ Top tribute band, The ZZ Tops, are to play a gig at The Southside, Easington Village on Sunday, November 13, from 1pm.
The Devon-based band were formed in 2007 and pay homage to the music and career of one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands of all time.
The li’l ole band from Devon, nail the look, sound and vibe of the bearded Texas trio, with their cheap sunglasses, fuzzy guitars, uninformed outfits and, most importantly, all the moves.
Comprising of Frank Weird on drums, Dusty Thrills on bass guitar and the Rev Billy F Bigguns on guitar, their shows place great emphasis on ZZ Top’s actual live performances, creating a dynamic stage show, packed full of brilliantly-played classics from the early 70s and 80s, through to the new releases of today.
Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top has even commented: “It’s the closest I’ve seen.”
The band has gigged extensively throughout UK and Europe including gigs at the London Motor Show at the London Excel Arena, Music Live at the Birmingham NEC and The Sail Boat and Powerboat Show at London’s Earl’s Court, and will be shortly heading off to Holland for a mini tour.
The gig also sees the return to the region of bass player Colin “Dusty Thrills” Gray.
Colin, who originates from Farringdon, Sunderland ,and moved to Devon 25 years ago, said: “It will be great to be doing a show back in the North East. I might even recognise some old faces.”
He added: “It’s been a hectic 12 months with gigs all over the continent and the UK, but its always good to get back to your roots.
“It will be a bit of a culture shock for Bigguns and Weird (guitar and drums), but I’m sure they’ll enjoy a warm welcome. Looking forward to seeing y`all there.”
Tickets are £8 and are available by contacting Percy on 07545 599 560.
