‘I’d come back tomorrow, or stay for the week’ – JJ of Union J on his visit to Sunderland for North East Live

Have your say

UNION J were nothing but hyper following their Stadium of Light performance.

The four-piece band took to the stage after Teeside pop star Amelia Lily and came bouncing off to say it was “brilliant.”

“It was amazing,” said 24-year-old JJ Hamblett, who was a professional jockey before joining the band.

“It was absolutely incredible.

“This is our third stadium gig, and outside gig as well.”

The lads, who are fast becoming heartthrobs, said they enjoyed their time on Wearside.

“I love coming to the North East,” said Josh Cuthbert, 20.

“I’d come back tomorrow, or stay for the week,” added JJ.

The band, who found fame after forming on X Factor, are now living together in London.

“It’s crazy living together,” said Jaymi Hamblett, 23, who revealed he was gay while the band were filming the ITV show.

“We are all from different places but we live together now – it’s mad.”

Union J have just released their first single, Carry You, and look set to be the next big boy band, following on from the success of predecessors such as The Wanted, and One Direction, who are also due to play the Stadium of Light next year.

“It’s the best life changing experience we could ever have had,” said George Shelley, 19.

“It’s totally mad, but it’s great.”
