OXFORD five-piece Fixers have been confirmed to play Independent on Saturday by Independent [Live] as part of its hugely popular, Don’t Be A Robot, club night.

The band who made their radio debut in 2009 on BBC Radio’s Oxford local music show, have been announced as BBC Introducing in Oxford’s Band of the Year 2011. This year also saw Fixers support Noah and the Whale at London’s iTunes Festival.

The band have received support and acclaim from the likes of Radio One DJ Huw Stephens, who has given the band’s third release, Swimhaus Johannesburg, regular airplay.

Drawing comparisons from artists such as MGMT and taking influences from stars such as Kate Bush, their live shows have been described as “apocalyptic” by LouderThanWar.com, who said: “The band play as though this is their, and everyone else in the room’s, last night on Earth.”

l Tickets are £4 on the door.
