LOYAL Black Cats fans who travelled to London at the weekend may not have seen their team win, but they have managed to score tickets to one of this year’s most-anticipated home town gigs.
Pop Recs Ltd held back fifty tickets for its Franz Ferdinand gig for fans returning from Wembley who couldn’t make the original release of general tickets on Monday morning.
The extra amount went on sale at 10am today and fans queued from 8.30am at the Fawcett Street venue to get their hands on the £5 tickets.
The gig, on March 27, is the latest high-profile event being brought to the city by Frankie & the Heartstrings who set up Pop Recs, a gig space, gallery and record shop, last June.
Dave Harper, drummer with the band, said: “We didn’t have to hold the tickets back but we thought, in order to accommodate everyone, it would just be a nice thing to do.
“I’m completely emotionally invested in this gig, there’s so much going on behind the scenes. Lots of work goes into something like this and it’s our necks on the block, but we felt really strongly about bringing a Brit Award-winning band to Sunderland.”
The gig is now completely sold out and there will be no guest list.
