LOLA Saunders wowed the X Factor judges with her emotional audition on the hit ITV show.

The 20-year-old is a fishmonger by day but that could change after she belted out Adele’s Make You Feel My Love to Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel B and Louis Walsh.

Lola, who had told judges she is from East Boldon, was asked by Simon Cowell if she liked her job at Latimer’s, in Whitburn.

She said: “No, no, no. I gut the fish, clean it, serve it and smell of it.

“It’s not glamorous at all. Any other job you can slap on a bit of make-up and look pretty and not smell of fish really at the end of the day.”

The judges were stunned by her voice, with Simon saying: “I thought that was a fantastic audition, i love the way you controlled the song, you have lots of soul.”

It was four big yeses for Lola, who will now go through to the second round of auditions – but is already one of the hot favourites to make it to the live shows later in the year.

Lola’s family joined her at the audition in Newcastle and she became tearful at the end of her song as she thanked them for their support.

Fighting to hold back her emotions, Lola said: “In everything that I do, my big supporters are Gran and Grandad, I’d just love to perform like this all the time. Obviously not cry after it.”
