DEMAND has been so high for a new album from Sunderland singer-songwriter Paul Liddell that his fans funded it themselves.
Paul launched a crowd fund campaign to get his latest record off the ground – never thinking fans would smash the target in under two hours.
The result is Andelain, 11 songs of indie-pop and post-folk, which were all recorded on Wearside.
Paul, who is currently touring in Germany, said: “This whole campaign has been an amazing experience for me. I’ve been genuinely surprised and thrilled at the response.
“I launched the project and it just kept going, to the tune of 350 per cent of the original target.”
The album will be launched at Sunderland Minster on April 24.
As well as being a respected musician in his hometown, Paul has caught the ear of music lovers and musicians beyond the region.
Among those he’s performed with are Turin Brakes, Florence And The Machine, Matt Cardle, Calvin Harris, Kathryn Tickell and Billy Bragg.
