Folk singer Eddi Reader will be bringing her distinctive sound to Durham later this month.
The former Fairground Attraction singer will take to the stage at Durham Gala Theatre ahead of the release of her new five-song EP Back The Dogs.
Released on November 3, the EP features four covers, as well as Back The Dogs from her acclaimed Vagabond album. Tracks Juxtaposed With U, by Super Furry Animals, and Love Is A Losing Game, by Amy Winehouse, feature Eddi singing and producing, accompanied by Scottish songwriter, and husband, John Douglas of Trashcan Sinatras.
Also included on the new release are emotive versions of the Evans/Livingston standard Mona Lisa and Moon River. The latter has played a central part in her concerts over the last couple of years. It recently became a huge hit with audiences attending this year’s Vagabond concerts when Eddi extended the piece to include stories of her musical childhood experiences at family parties in Glasgow tenement flats.
Eddi will perform in the region as part of the final shows of her 2014 Vagabond tour on the back of a year which has seen many high profile concerts and appearances, including Later With Jools Holland and Cambridge Folk Festival.
