“It’s crazy playing here,” said Amelia Lily.
“Last time I was here I came to see Take That, and now I’m back two years later to perform.
“It’s the biggest stage I’ve played on.”
The Middlesbrough lass flew in from Ireland to perform at the Stadium of Light for North East Live on Saturday, and her family also travelled to the Wearside venue to see her on stage.
“I’m really excited to be here,” she said.
“I haven’t had time to go home but I’m pleased my family have come along.
“The last time I played up here I supported Olly Murs in Middlesbrough.”
The 18-year-old was due to release her debut album Be a Fighter in April, but the date was pushed back and it is yet to go on sale.
However the Teeside pop star performed three of her own songs including Shut Up (and Give Me Whatever You Got), which charted at number 11, as well as two cover tracks – Paramore’s Still Into You, and her own version of Bruno Mars’ song Locked Out of Heaven.
“I was on for about twenty minutes,” she said.
“It’s a great line-up, and everyone who’s playing is lovely.
“I’ve met everyone apart from Rita Ora, but I would like to meet her.”
Amelia went straight back to London after her performance.
“I’ve got to go straight back,” she said.
“I’ve got the day off tomorrow though so I’m going to spend some quality time with my friends.”
The X Factor graduate said she misses some of her northern home comforts when she’s in the capital.
“I love Toby Carvery’s and there are none in London,” she said.
“But I found one just outside the centre, so whenever I get some time off I go there for an apple crumble.”
