Next year, the celebrated National Theatre production of War Horse will be galloping into Sunderland.
To celebrate its three-week run next spring, the Sunderland Empire is hosting an exclusive launch event at the Marriott Hotel in Seaburn, on September 17.
The launch, which takes place at 1pm, is an opportunity to see the central character, Joey, in action and discover first hand how the stage horses are created and brought to life.
Also at the launch will be Jimmy Grimes, assistant puppetry director for War Horse, and members of the creative team from the National Theatre.
Coming to the Sunderland Empire from April 30 to May 17, War Horse is the story of a young man’s journey to find his beloved horse Joey, against the backdrop of the First World War.
Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, the National Theatre’s internationally-acclaimed production of War Horse features life-sized puppets who bring the charging horses to life.
