THE finishing touches are being put to a display of frame and fortune as a Wearside gallery focuses in on fashion greats.
Spectacles – The Oliver Goldsmith Collection features glasses worn by icons from Audrey Hepburn to Michael Caine and became trend-setters of the 20th-century, working with fashion houses such as Dior and Givenchy.
From Saturday, visitors to the National Glass Centre at the University of Sunderland will have the chance to view some of the famous designs.
And people can be in the frame too. As part of the exhibition’s run, which lasts until Sunday, May 4, the venue is appealing for people to take photographs of themselves – also known as selfies – wearing glasses and upload them to Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag #bespectacular, which will then be used by the gallery.
