Opening the show at the Sunderland Empire last night, the audience was absolutely blown away.

The show was simply stunning and so much more than I was expecting.

Set in Hollywood’s Golden Age, the show sees the murder of a prominent movie star by club owner Lana Clemenza (Abbie Osmon) in a bid to cover up their affair from her gangster boyfriend.

Private investigator Tommy Dubrowski (Teddy Kempner) has photographs of them in a compromising position and Lana will seemingly do whatever it takes to keep her secret.

Sadie Strauss (Cacace) was engaged to the murdered star and is helped through the tough time by little-known actor Tony Deluca (Simone), who is framed for the gruesome crime.

The story is truly gripping and the way it’s played out is just mind-blowingly brilliant.

Cacace and Simone are silent throughout the whole show, but it’s amazing how many emotions they can convey through dance.

From complete joy to unbearable heartache, they made me feel both in the extreme and everything in between.

From the waltz to the tango and the Charleston to the quick step, they did it all, and each routine was impeccably flawless.

Stand out moments came from the pair’s beautiful choreography to song Moon River – sung by The Voice (Oliver Darley) – and an emotional dance in a jail cell with them chained together.

The set is wonderful and costumes are gorgeous. The show is a real visual spectacle and the use of props is fantastic.

Songs in the show are played by a sensational live band, who seemed to be able to play any style of music that was thrown at them.

A mixture of modern tracks and songs from decades gone by, such as Cry Me A River, That’s Life, Stand By Me, Run Away Baby, and I’m A Woman were either instrumental or sung beautifully by supporting cast members.

The show was narrated by the witty PI in the style of an old black and white detective movie. He made quips about the set, interval and script, that brought a hilarious element to the show.

Simone and Cacace gave stunning performances, and they were backed up fantastically by their perfectly in-synch dancers.

You ain’t seen nothing until you’ve seen a gang of mobsters doing a choreographed comedy dance and a Weekend at Bernie’s-style dance with a dead body had everyone in stitches.

They say time flies when you’re having fun, and this show went by way too quickly.

It was glamorous, exciting, hilarious, and infectiously fun.

In all honesty, I’ve never really watched Strictly Come Dancing, but now I just feel like I’ve been missing out.

The show was gorgeous and I could watch it again and again.

You won’t regret going to see this one – it’s a night out you’ll never forget.
