CROWDS will have a sporting chance of getting a good spot to see Sunderland’s Christmas lights switch-on as it changes its venue.
This year’s event will be staged at the former Crowtree Leisure Centre site on Thursday, November 13, making the move from outside the civic centre.
Councillor John Kelly, Sunderland City Council’s portfolio holder for public health, wellness and culture, said: “This fantastic family occasion is always fun. I encourage everyone, young and old, to come along and join in the countdown to the mayor and his special guests turning on the city centre Christmas lights.” Beginning at 6pm, the evening will feature live music, with a special celebrity guest appearance for the switch-on at 7pm.
More details will be revealed nearer the time.
