AN artist laid herself bare to highlight a creative corner of the city.
Inspired by the graffiti work which has sprung up around Sunniside, Panella Bee had her body painted to echo the street art.
The result is a collection of striking images which see life imitating art.
Panella, from Grangetown, is married to graffiti artist Frank Styles and the pair are always looking for ways to bring new creativity to their home town.
They enlisted the help of body paint artist Karen Cessford from Kismit Street Body Art and photographer Paul Cummings to create the images.
Panella said: “I’m a circus entertainer, fire performer and dancer, I was driving past Frank’s work and thought it would be great to link what I do with what he does.
“I also love Karen’s work and it all came together really easily. We’re really passionate about making Sunderland more cultural.”
She added: “We did get a few looks when we were doing the photos, one lady just came up and stared.”
Karen, from Fulwell, said: “I usually work with photographers and models, as well as painting baby bumps, but this is one of the more unusual commissions I’ve had.”
