PUFFING Billy is back and he has been travelling from village to village spreading his special Christmas magic to young and old.
It is the second year the replica engine, based on the Butlins original and built by South Hetton businessman Ian Morrell, has taken to the road for a festive tour. This year, money raised will go to the heart unit at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital, which treated Mr Morrell’s three-year-old grandson Caden, when he was just two weeks old.
And Billy is not alone this Christmas as he is joined by newly-built trailer Milly, carrying Santa and his little helpers.
Puffing Billy has covered areas including Houghton, Shiney Row and Penshaw as well as East Durham.
