Madagascar 3: The Video Game: Xbox 360 (Kinect required)

editorial image

MADAGASCAR’S animal magic has had to battle with the Ice Age and Toy Story crews during its cinema existence, so to sustain a gaming franchise in light of such strong competition represents success in some respect before you even start playing this game.

But the console tie-in to the recent big-screen release acts as little more than mini-game fodder for the smaller members of your family, as you guide Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe through a travelling circus adventure where you must complete a range of basic missions and put on an amazing mini-game-based show to get the gang back to the USA. Graphically competent, but seriously lacking in innovation, Madagascar 3 will certainly entertain fans of the film for a few hours, but unless you have a willing playing partner to take enjoyment levels through the circus tent roof, it may be one circus where it’s worth waiting for cut-price tickets.
