MUSIC fans can enjoy British opera at its very best when an Olivier Award-winning production arrives at a Durham theatre later this month.
English Touring Opera’s (ETO) production of King Priam, by Michael Tippett, was awarded the honour for Outstanding Achievement in Opera, at last month’s Olivier Awards.
The awards’ judges described the production as “brave and challenging”.
It was the first Olivier Award for ETO and other nominees in the category included world-class opera singers Joyce DiDonato, Juan Diego Flórez and Placido Domingo.
Audiences at Durham’s Gala Theatre, in Millenium Place, will have the chance to see the show, which is based on Homer’s Iliad, for themselves when it visits on Tuesday.
Tickets are £26 each with discounts for concessions and Friends of Gala.
