COLOURFUL actress Su Pollard will take centre stage at this year’s Empire pantomime.
It’s been announced that the former Hi-de-Hi! actress will take on the role of the Wicked Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The actress, who shot to fame as chalet maid Peggy Ollerenshaw in Hi-de-Hi!, has since carved a successful career on the stage, appearing in numerous musicals and pantomimes.
She was last at the Empire in 2011 playing Miss Hannigan in a touring production of Annie.
Starring alongside her in this year’s festive offering at the Sunderland Empire will be Andrew Agnew who’s known for playing Pc Plum in children’s TV show Balamory.
He’ll step into the role of Muddles the Jester at this year’s panto, which runs from December 12 until January 4.
The remaining cast members will be announced in the coming weeks.
Ben Phillips, general manager at Sunderland Empire, said: “We’re delighted to say ‘Hi-de-Hi!’ to Su Pollard again as she returns to the Sunderland Empire following her unforgettable role in Annie in 2011. Su is a true panto legend and alongside CBeebies Andrew Agnew we are gearing up for another spectacular pantomime for the whole family. We look forward to announcing further star casting soon.” Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is produced by Martin Dodd for UK Productions, the company behind Empire pantos Peter Pan, in 2012, and Cinderella, in 2013.
