CINDERELLA had a ball on Wearside, say Sunderland Empire bosses.

The theatre is celebrating the success of its annual pantomime, which finished its run yesterday.

Audiences flocked to see Benidorm actress Sherrie Hewson in the role of The Fairy Godmother, alongside former Brookside actor Dean Sullivan as Baron Hardup, Amy Thompson from Channel 5’s Milkshake as Cinderella and Jamie Rickers from CITV and Nickelodeon as Buttons.

Ben Phillips, Sunderland Empire general manager, said: “The response to Cinderella this year has been wonderful. It has been a pleasure for both ourselves and UK Productions with their fantastic cast, to welcome the people of Sunderland.

“Reviews and customer feedback have been great, and we look forward to hosting another magical pantomime this year.”
