THEATRE company bosses have apologised after a Sunderland Empire show twice ground to a halt due to technical problems.

War Horse was suspended for about an hour in total on Tuesday evening.

The National Theatre has offered replacement tickets to audience members who had to leave. “There were technical problems with the sound desk, which resulted in the show having to be stopped twice early in the performance,” said a statement.

“The sound desk is subjected to checks before every performance. The issues were unexpected and not able to be anticipated.

“Some members of the audience had to leave before the show finished and we are very sorry for the disappointment caused.

“We would like to thank the audience for their patience, their understanding and their appreciation of the show.”
