WEARSIDE singers are aiming to be charity stars.

Sunderland Rock Choir is taking part in a world record attempt for the most people signing and singing at the same time.

Members hope to inspire a generation to learn sign language during a national charity’s annual fund-raiser on February 5 next year.

The bid will see the city’s branch of the UK’s largest contemporary choir take part in SignHealth’s Sign2sing record attempt.

Rob Slater, the Sunderland choir’s leader, said: “We are really looking forward to taking part.

“Learning to sign, as well as sing, will add a new and very interesting element to the song.

“We hope that lots of people join with us in helping to raise money and awareness for such a worthy cause.”

To join in, people can register at www.sign2sing.org.uk.
