A COMIC book convention has been rescheduled after a clash with the Split Festival.

In February, it was announced that a large scale comic book festival, Comic Con, would be held at Sunderland Software Centre this weekend.

But in April, Split Festival organisers announced they would be staging their two-day event just yards away in Mowbray Park. Sunderland Live decided to move its event to avoid a clash.

Chris Alexander, chief operating officer at Sunderland Live, said: “Since Comic Con was originally announced, another significant event has been scheduled to take place in the city centre.

“Sunderland Live are proud and excited to be bringing Comic Con to the city and we wanted to make sure it was given its own place in the city’s event calendar.”

Comic Con will now take place on February 21 and 22.

The event will include talks, signings and live sketches from internationally famous comic writers and artists, as well as some of the UK’s leading independent comic book publishers.
